SEDAR RELEASE 5.0
Release 5.0 (R5.0) of the SEDAR software is planned for implementation on the weekend of October 3-4, 1998 and will be accessible to SEDAR users on the morning of Monday, October 5, 1998. To facilitate this implementation, the SEDAR server will not be available during the implementation weekend. In order to access the SEDAR server for the first time after implementation, you must first install the new SEDAR Client software. All paid SEDAR subscribers will have a new SEDAR Release 5.0 client software package along with related information delivered to them before Friday, October 1, 1998.
To obtain information about the new functionality offered by Release 5.0, please refer to the SEDAR Subscriber Update 9809 issued on Thursday, August 27, 1998. This information can also be found in the "About SEDAR" section of the SEDAR Web site at www.sedar.com. Complete details of the changes will be included in the Release 5.0 Client software package.
Installation of Release 5.0
During the installation process of Release 5.0, you will be given the option to upgrade from an existing installed version of Release 4.0 or to install a new version of SEDAR. The option to upgrade is not available if you are upgrading to Release 5.0 from an earlier release than SEDAR Release 4.0. If this is the case, you must do a complete installation.
If you choose to upgrade, your local databases are saved. More specifically, the Filing Management database, Search Filings database, and Search Profile reports are updated to include the new columns being added with Release 5.0. In addition, your user information and passwords will be retained, so you donít have to run the SEDAR Startup program.
Temporary Filings (Not Submitted to the SEDAR Server)
Filers are strongly urged to submit or delete any temporary filings (filings created and saved but not submitted) prior to close of business on October 2, 1998. This will help to ensure a clean migration. Since the SEDAR upgrade preserves your Filing Management local database, there may be temporary filings or failed submissions created in Release 4.0 that contain data that is no longer valid or must be updated. After the Release 5.0 upgrade, the status in the Date Submitted column on the Filing Management window of each temporary filing will be changed to Review. The Submit button will not be available for these filings. To be able to proceed with filings with the Review status, you will have to open each submission, make the necessary changes and then submit the filings to the SEDAR server or save them on your workstation. When the temporary filing is saved, the status will be either In Progress or Ready.
For all temporary profiles, the Last Updated/Status column in the Profile Management List can have a status of In Progress or Ready. After the Release 5.0 upgrade, the status for Other Issuer temporary profiles will be changed to Review. This indicates to the issuer that they must review the temporary profile. The Submit button will not be available until the filer has reviewed the profile and made the mandatory changes.
As stated in a previous Subscriber Update, Windows 98 is not currently supported for the SEDAR application. Release 5.0 of SEDAR was developed before Windows 98 was released, and it has not been tested in the Windows 98 environment.

FORMATTING AND SUBMITTING DOCUMENTS ON SEDAR
No changes have been made to the list of acceptable formats for SEDAR documents. The acceptable formats remain:
If component text or material (including graphic or image material) that was originally created in non-acceptable electronic format is to be included in a document to be filed electronically, the text or material must be converted to acceptable electronic format prior to, or at the time of, insertion into the document.
For example, a financial statement prepared using a spreadsheet should not be embedded or linked in a word processing file without first being converted to the acceptable electronic format.
Reasonable efforts must be made to reduce print resolution for PDF documents to ensure that file sizes are as small as possible, thereby ensuring more efficient transmission.
