T
o access the content of a document in the SEDAR database, you must be able to recognize its file format and have the corresponding software for reading that format.

By law, documents filed in the SEDAR database must be in Portable Document Format (PDF). Previous to September, 1999, documents could also be filed in either of the following formats:

  1. Microsoft Word, versions 6.x or 7.x - These files are identified in this site as "MS Word"
  2. Corel WordPerfect, versions 5.x and 6.x - These files are identified "WP 5.x" or "WP 6.x"
  3. To ensure that you will be able to access any document filed with SEDAR you can

    1. purchase the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, and Adobe Acrobat (to allow you to read PDF files) or
    2. download freeware viewers for Microsoft Word at http://www.microsoft.com/office and Adobe Acrobat at http://www.adobe.com (or by clicking on the icon to the right). There is currently no freeware stand-alone viewer for Corel WordPerfect.

If your browser does not automatically open SEDAR documents in Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect or Adobe Acrobat formats, check to see if it is configured correctly. For information on configuring your browser, see Browser Help.
